The Rhine

Duesseldorf, Germany, 2013

I’m trying something different. Instead of scanning negatives or processing raw files, I’m just taking snapshots with the camera of my mobile phone and converting them in black and white on the phone itself. Just gives me the opportunity to take photos without having to pull a camera – no matter how small – from the bag. More quantity, less quality.

The shutter lag is bad, really bad, but I’m not even including people (as usually intended by the canons of street photography) in my pictures: people in Duesseldorf don’t like to be taken in photos, privacy is paramount over here. Who am I to discuss? They will get what they want: city of absence, a town full of ghosts.

Duesseldorf isn’t ugly, but its silence sometimes kills me. These are the Tales from the Silent City.
